Uttar Pradesh
The state of Uttar Pradesh is located in the northern region of India bordering Nepal. There are over two hundred million inhabitants living in this state. Lucknow is the Capital City but the industrial capital is Kanpur.
Being the birthplace of the Hindu religion, this state has an extraordinary culture and history. There are a lot of Hindu’s that pilgrimage to the important sites here. There are also very important Buddhist sites where Buddha gave his sermons. The Chaukhandi Stupa is where Buddha met his disciples.
Uttar Pradesh was the center of the Mughal Empire. The city or Agra is where Shah Jehan built the beautiful Taj Mahal for his brides Mausoleum. This is an incredibly interesting site to visit and learn about one of the most romantic stories of all times.
There are elephants, tigers, bears, swamp deer, wild pigs, wolf, jackal, neelgai, porcupine, many species of birds and many smaller animals in this state.
The climate is considered sub-tropical with the monsoon season from June to September. It snows in the Himilayan Mountains in the north.
Uttar Predesh has more to offer tourists, with over seventy million tourists visiting this state every year. Agra alone has three renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites: The Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur.
Pilgrims from all over visit the sacred Ganges and the Yamuna Rivers. Varanasi is said to be the oldest city in the world is famous for its ghats, where pilgrams come to bath.
Gala Magh Mela festivals at Allahabad are held on the river banks of the Ganges. Over ten million Hindus gather here at one time.
There are hundreds of important religious sites, palaces and archeological places of interest in this state.

The Pilibhit Tiger Reserve: The Sandi Bird Sanctuary ,“ houses over 21,000 migratory birds annually.
The Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary ,“ the most concentrated sanctuary in India with a large population of tigers as well as leopards ,“ situated in Bahraich and bordering Nepal is also worth a visit.
Dudhwa National Park is one of the best tiger reserves in the country.
