Mata de Limon

Mata de Limon, a small village with simple hotels, has a number of restaurants specializing in mariscos (seafood). It is in the Boca de Caldera, surrounded by mangrove swamps, and has a beach suitable for surfing. Its most interesting tourist attraction, however, is south of the river estuary, where boats can be rented for day trips into the swamps to observe alligators and tropical birds in their natural habitat. Mata de Limon is also popular with highland city residents who often drive out on weekends to watch the sunset and dine at the elegant Costa del Mar restaurant.
