Take a stroll through and imagine times gone by with a much deserved stop off in the local pub; The Acorn Inn which is featured in Thomas Hardy’s famous novel, Tess of the d’Urbervilles as “The Sow and Acorn”.
Accommodation at the Summer Lodge, Dorset is exceptional with 20 bedrooms, 2 one bedroom suites and 2 two bedroom suites. Each room at the 4 star English Country House Hotel is individually decorated and comes complete with the latest in state of the art technology including large plasma screen TV and DVD, air conditioning, Satellite TV and High Speed Wireless Internet access.
Rooms and suites are not only available in the Main House but also in the Coach House which feature their own conservatory or balcony overlooking the pool and spa area, as well as in one of our 3 cottages including the romantic Ivy Cottage which is perfect for honeymooners.
Room One, our Master Bedroom was originally designed by Thomas Hardy himself and offers a magnificent open fireplace and overlooks the perfectly manicured English country gardens that frame the house beautifully.

Our Fine Dining Restaurant is also extremely proud to have received two highly coveted nominations in the prestigious Tatler 2005 Restaurant Awards for Best Sommelier (Eric Zwiebel) and Best Out of Town Restaurant! The American magazine, ‘Wine Spectator’ has again awarded Summer Lodge with a ‘Best of Award of Excellence’ for 2006, stating Summer Lodge has one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.
