Departs: This is a set departure from Windhoek, Namibia every Monday of 2009.
DAY 1
Sesriem, Namibia
Meet your guide and depart from Windhoek at 8:30am. En route you will drive through the town of Rehoboth on your way to the lovely Agama River camp arriving at camp just in time for lunch. After lunch you have some free time to enjoy the swimming pool or just relax around the camp. This afternoon your guide will take on a short sunset walk or you can join Agama Camp for an optional sundowner drive. Enjoy our dinner prepared by your guide and camp assistant.

DAY 2
Sesriem, Namibia
Today you depart camp pre-dawn to drive the 65km to Sossusvlei where you watch the sunrise from this spectacular and unique area (dependent on opening time of inner park gate). You head up a dune close to Sossusvlei then walk to Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around, contrasting with a backdrop of huge orange-red dunes that make for superb photographic opportunities. Enjoy a mid morning brunch after exploring this dramatic and desolate landscape before returning to camp for a swim and this afternoon explore nearby Sesriem Canyon on foot. Enjoy another spectacular sunset surrounded by this colorful desert and sleep under the bright stars of the southern hemisphere. Dinner is prepared by your guide with assistance from the apprentice guide.

DAY 3
Swakopmund, Namibia
Today you have an early morning departure from camp stopping at the one horse town of Solitaire before continuing through the desert with its endless views across the pastel-colored gravel plains to the port town of Walvis Bay. You visit the lagoon, which is a protected wetland site, where you may see the many species of birds including Greater and Lesser flamingos, pelicans, avocets, plovers and the endemic Damara tern before a short stop at the salt farm. You continue onto the quaint town of Swakopmund, full of historic buildings and where your guide will assist those wishing to book optional adventure activities such as sand boarding, quad biking, scenic flights, parachuting, dolphin cruises to name but a few, which you have time for this afternoon and tomorrow morning. This evening’s meal is a group dinner in a restaurant settled direct. You stay tonight at Villa Wiese Guesthouse. Laundry facilities are available here.
Located in beautiful Swakopmund, a town that has its fair share of historic buildings, Villa Wiese stands out as a charming 100 year old building, converted into a funky Guesthouse. Accommodations are simple and comfortable with en0suite bathrooms.

DAY 4
Spitzkoppe, Namibia
This morning you have free time to visit the museum and aquarium, explore the town, or partake in optional activities such as sand boarding and quad biking. You depart after lunch, driving along a section of the Skeleton Coast before turning inland for Spitzkoppe in Damaraland, a huge inselberg towering above the dry desert plains and arriving late afternoon to set up camp. You have the opportunity to explore the area and enjoy the wonderful rock formations that have been created by erosion over thousands of years. Dinner prepared by the guide and camp assistant. Evening spent under a million stars.

DAY 5
Damaraland, Namibia
This morning you explore the rock art of the Spitzkoppe at Bushmans Paradise. You then proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage site to see the most exciting rock engravings and paintings at Twyfelfontein. On your way to Twyfelfontein you will have opportunity to see the local Herero ladies selling the Herero dolls. After lunch you continue your drive through some beautiful and dramatic landscapes of famous Damaraland before arriving late afternoon at our camp just in time for a good shower or a drink at the bar with possibly the famous Desert Elephants roaming around the camp. Dinner is prepared by your guide with assistance from the camp Assistant.

DAY 6
Damaraland, Namibia
You have a choice today, either join the optional activities like Himba Excursion – Himba are remarkable and proud semi nomads living in the formally Kaokoveld. Formally cattle/goat herders still live traditional life style in this harsh environment. Rhino Tracking – is one of the activities were you help make a difference, by taking part in this activity you will contribute to saving the Endangered Black Rhino. Damaraland Wildlife Excursion – this is for the animal lover who enjoy every moment. For those staying at camp today you can relax around the swimming pool or just take a short walk on the self guided trails from the camp. Dinner is prepared by your guide with assistance from camp assistant.

DAY 7
Etosha National Park, Namibia
You have another early departure today as you will need to get some fresh supplies in Outjo before going for your first game drive in Etosha National Park. The massive park is a heaven for wildlife and supports one of the most important ecological and wildlife systems in the world. You take your lunch at Anderson gate and start game driving after lunch to your camp site at Okaukuejo midday. After a good swim we will have time for afternoon game drive to see all kinds of animals like elephants, giraffes, lion, zebra, springbok to name a few. Dinner is prepared in camp by your guide with assistance from camp assistant. Evening game viewing is available at the flood lit waterhole.
Okaukeujo was the first rest camp opened to tourists and a special attraction of the camp is the waterhole just outside the perimeter. This is a true theater of Africa. An incredible array of animals come to drink at the permanent water hole throughout an African night. You can sit with a cup of hot chocolate or glass of wine and see what develops. Guests have seen black rhino, many lions and even elephants mating here.

DAY 8
Etosha National Park, Namibia
This morning you have a sunrise departure from camp for a full morning game drive. You will transit across the park visiting various waterholes along the way. You arrive mid morning at your next camp. After lunch you enjoy an afternoon game drive around the Halali area of the park and also have a chance to see the famous Etosha Pan, a vast depression which can even be seen from space and the white shimmering haze disappearing into the horizon. Dinner is back at camp prepared by your guide and the camp assistant. Evening game viewing is available at the flood lit waterhole.
Halali Rest Camp is strategically located halfway between Okaukuejo and Namutoni in the Etosha National Park. It is surrounded by some of the most popular water holes in the Park. The resorts name, of German origin, is derived from the bugle call made to announce the end of a hunt.

DAY 9
Okonjima, Namibia
You start today with an early morning departure to exit the park at Namutoni gate on your way to Okonjima. After a quick stop in Otavi to pick fresh supplies you will to your camp at Africat Foundation. You arrive mid afternoon at Okonjima just in time for your activity. You have time to learn how Africat has been involved in rescue and release of Cheetah and Leopard and also to see these endangered cats. Dinner is prepared by your guide with assistance from camp assistant. This being your last evening, you spend tonight around the campfire.
Camps consist of a combination of private and semi-private campsites. Tents are dome type. Ablution facilities are separate when available. All camping equipment including sleeping mats and pillows is provided, except sleeping bags. Fresh and tasty meals are prepared by the guide and apprentice guide with the help of participants.

DAY 10
Depart
Your guide will lead you on a short hike before heading back to camp. After brunch you will drive back to Windhoek via the Okahandja Craft Markets for any last minute curio shopping you may need. Your guide will transfer you to your accommodations or the airport to meet your departure flight.
